Director of Campus Ministry
I grew up about an hour down the road from VCU in Charlottesville, Virginia. After spending my entire life in the mountains, I decided to attend college in the nation's capital where I graduated from The Catholic University of America in 2017 with a degree in Theology and Religious Studies. During my time in college, I worked at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and I interned for George Washington University's Catholic Campus Ministry. After college I worked for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston's Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministry Office. I am excited to be back in the Diocese of Richmond and ministering to the students here at VCU! Feel free to stop by the CCM house anytime to say hello. I enjoy conversation over a good cup of coffee, a walk around Monroe Park, and sitting outside on the patio behind the CCM house.
Fr. Tony Marques, Rector of the Cathedral
I have been a priest for 14 years and am excited to be the new rector of the cathedral. My hope is that each student would experience the love of God signified by the title of the beautiful church next door: the Sacred Heart of Jesus. My previous assignments have been at Blessed Sacrament parish and James Madison University, Harrisonburg; St. Timothy’s, Tappahannock; Sacred Heart, Danville; and St. Benedict’s, Richmond. I like being outdoors (hiking especially), running, and reading (mostly history). I enjoy a strong cup of coffee and am a devoted Bruce Springsteen fan.
